Malaspina University-College is receiving rave reviews from former students.
Provincial surveys show that for six years in a row, students ranked Malaspina highest among B.C.’s five university-colleges for quality of instruction.
The surveys, done between 1998 and 2003, also show that Malaspina ranked highly for program organization, amount of practical experience included in programs, availability of instructors outside of class time, and for helping students attain their educational objectives. Malaspina also received top marks for students’ overall satisfaction with their post secondary studies.
Every year, former students who have left or completed programs at B.C.’s 22 public colleges, institutes and university colleges are surveyed for the B.C. College and Institute Student Outcomes (CISO) Project.
The annual survey is designed to collect and disseminate information about students’ satisfaction levels with their post-secondary experience.
"The Student Outcomes survey is like a barometer to show how we’re doing compared to previous years," said Malaspina president Rich Johnston. "There’s no doubt that the survey results indicate that we can be extremely proud of our institution."
"Each year, thousands of highly qualified students choose Malaspina University-College as the launching pad for their future," said David Thomas, Malaspina’s vice-president of Research and Instruction. "Their reasons for choosing Malaspina are as many and diverse as the student population itself. The results of the Student Outcomes surveys are a very positive reflection on our excellent faculty, staff and programs offered at Malaspina."
Results of the 2004 provincial Student Outcomes survey are expected to be released soon.
