FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, November 21, 2012
NANAIMO, BC – The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1858 has informed Vancouver Island University (VIU) that their members will return to work on **Thursday, November 22, 2012. Classes will go ahead and services will resume** as normal.
At this time, VIU does **not** anticipate any further job action this week.
Students are encouraged to consult their instructors regarding missed classes, assignments and course work. If there are any further questions, please email labourinfo@viu.ca or call (250)753-3245 or 1-888-920-2221.
VIU is committed to completing a negotiated settlement with CUPE without further disruption to students. Once again, we regret the inconvenience this labour action has caused for our students.
